San Jose, Costa Rica. April 30th, 2014 – The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce of Costa Rica (Spanish acronym: MEIC), has just released its iOS application “MEIC Consumo”. This app represents an important step in the adoption of new technologies to bring government institutions closer to the population through Costa Rica’s “Gobierno Digital” (Digital Government) program.
“MEIC Consumo” provides information and recommendations for consumers to make better decisions when purchasing goods and services, and opens a portal to ask for consumer advice and make related inquiries. Together with this app, MEIC also launched its new phone service 1-311, a consumer helpline that is integrated to the app. With just one click, users can contact personnel from the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce, making the app an ideal channel to empower the general public, democratize knowledge and simplify paperwork and procedures, all in accordance with the goals of the Digital Government program.
As a next step, aPlicativa has started the development of the Android version of “MEIC Consumo”, to be released in the near future.
“MEIC Consumo” is available for download at no cost from the Apple app store: https://itunes.apple.com/es/app/consumo/id838534635
